Hi everybody!

Does anyone know whether MIT has an Educational Counselor in Romania? I would really appreciate if you gave me his/her e-mail address or phone number.

Thanks a lot!

Hi everybody!

Does anyone know whether MIT has an Educational Counselor in Romania? I would really appreciate if you gave me his/her e-mail address or phone number.

Thanks a lot!

Weren’t you assigned one? I’d email interview@mit.edu and/or admissions@mit.edu to see if you’re eligible for an interview.

The thing is, I’m not from Romania. And there’s no EC in my area. But, I am soon to have a small trip to Romania, and I thought I could do the interview now, if it’s not too late.

btw, do you think there’s anyone in the office there on Saturday? I am just asking because I’m thinking of calling.

I don’t think the office is “officially” open on Saturday. I’m pretty sure their lines are directed to an automated message or mailbox after hours. You can, however, try to fax their admissions office and might get a response if someone’s in and happens to read the message.

In any event, I doubt you’ll have much luck because they typically divert these queries to their Interviews Department. I was sort of in a similar situation. MyMIT showed my interviewer as one in Sacramento, then I moved to Bangalore and thus couldn’t attend a Sacramento interview. I had to contact MIT Admissions, which sent me to Interviews, which took a week to provide an alternate interviewer and update my myMIT. This was, of course, before the deadline. I’m not sure if they’ll be able to accomodate an interview at this stage in the application process (they’ll be finishing the “reading” phase).

Since you have a unique circumstance, though, it’s always worth asking. Based on my encounters with the admissions department, they seem committed to learning as much as they can about applicants – despite the extra time required to doing so. I would recommend calling and asking on Monday, it can only help.

I called the office. No one is picking up the phone, and as you predicted, the call has been diverted to an answering machine.

The only problem is that I will be in Romania only on Monday. Well, I guess that’s it.
Thanks anyway :)
