EE Grad School - Taking a class P/NP

Hello, I am a senior majoring in Electrical Engineering. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take “Intro to Programming” P/NP; it’s the class that comes before Data Structures (which isn’t required).

I am taking heavy design classes every quarter next year and I feel that this class will get in the way. These design classes take roughly 40+ hours in lab every week. I know programming could take up a lot of time, even for an intro level course.

My question is: Will this look bad when I apply to grad schools sometime in the future? How will this look when I apply for EE jobs after I graduate?

I think it would be beneficial because it demonstrate to the grad schools that you have a broad knowledge of the field. Some EE does a lot of programming themselves so it must be helpful when it comes to looking for a job.
