EEs working at game companies like Nintendo

Do a lot of Electrical Engineers and Computer engineers work at game companies like Nintendo or third party game developers?? Does anyone know what their job is usually like?
Which states in the US are game companies located? I know of one in Texas and another in New York. Don’t bother to tell me any Sony companies because I DESPISE Sony >=/ …Thank You =)

I’d prefer to work for Nintendo or any good third party game developers.

Usually EE/CE’s work on developing new hardware devices like the wii mote and motion capturing. Things to do with hardware mostly but if you know your programming and 3-d modeling techniques then you apply for jobs such as game development. The best thing to do right now is to use what u got and get a foot into the industry and see how things are run.

One of my friends was an ECE in undergrad and was flown out for interviews by a game company or two. I think they mostly look for CS people for coding, though I imagine they liked him more because he had previously made his own games and was involved a bit in the indie game scene.

I know there are a number of game companies in Seattle from all the Microsoft offshoots.

Usually CS are wanted for the coding, but not necessarily. It’s usually a prejudice ?

The hardware jobs at companies known for their software are difficult to get. I know when Microsoft came to campus they stated they would not hire undergrads to be on the hardware teams, for example.
