<p>The UCs are usually pretty generous to instate kids with 0 EFC.</p>
<p>Yes, because of B&G promise your UC general fees (aka tuition) are covered thru what could be a variety of grants (Pell, Cal Grant, UC Grant). </p>
<p>It’s unknown how much you’ll get in grants that go beyond those basic fees. Some UC EFC 0 kids have gotten a total amount of grants in the range of about 17-19k (including the B&G part). If you get about that much in grants, then when you add Stafford loan, likely some Perkins loan, and work-study then almost all costs are covered. I can’t remember if the UCs include a “student summer work contribution.”</p>
<p>No matter what you get, you should try to get a summer job because there are always unexpected costs associated with starting college…dorm stuff and other unanticipated expenses.</p>
