<p>With an EFC of a little over $30,000 what are the likely financial aid options that might be offered at private schools, such as LACs. I realize the financial aid may be limited, but I wonder about the experiences of others who were in a similar EFC range.</p>
<p>Financial aid is for the non-EFC portion. An FA package goes towards the non-EFC portion…such as COA $55k minus EFC $30k = $25k need. It’s the $25k that the FA package will attempt to address (and may not be able to). </p>
<p>And, many LACs use CSS Profile, they may determine that you can pay even more!</p>
<p>How much of your EFC can you afford? Whatever you can’t afford will likely require you to take out a loan (in addition to whatever loans are in the FA package that covers the $25k need). There could also be a gap in the FA package. </p>
<p>Often, families have to pay MORE than their EFCs.</p>
<p>COA = cost of attendance (tuition, fees, room, board, books, etc)</p>
