Effective way to Ace Bio/Chem?

I’m taking Biology and Chemistry Honors. (Highest Offered in both subjects)

I need tips on how to do well?

You need to take extensive notes and take time to memorize. I would recommend outlining or creating flashcards for the vocabulary. Devote around twenty minutes per night to review all of your notes. By doing this, you won’t put a significant amount of pressure on yourself to study the night before. You will already have a decent comprehension of the material. Good luck!

I took Honors Bio in tenth grade and AP as a senior. As I recall, bio mostly involved just doing the readings and work given out. If you did that and made sure to understand the concepts like mitosis and meiosis or photosynthesis you usually did ok. On alot of labs and tests for short answer if you added details and explained the answer well enough from your understanding of it you could do exceptionally well.

I only took AP chem but with that it required understanding slightly complicated and intricate processes and more importantly being able to manipulate the equations and numbers being used. It had a lot less reading involved compared to bio but you really had to get the small equations or concepts that were handed out. For me Bio was much easier and I understood it a lot more easily but with the right study habits and such you should be fine.

Also for both classes take just the right amount of notes. I would often find myself trying to get EVERYTHING being taught on paper but I ended up not absorbing any of it and had to figure it all out at night from the scribbles I jotted down. Take down what you think is important and will need to remember but make sure you are understanding it and it’s makng sense as the teacher is teaching it and make notes from that.

Best of luck.

Definitely take your own notes to use as along with class notes. I think Bio will require a good amount of memorization, while Chem is more understanding the concepts. Good luck!
