Efficient SAT1/SATII/AP exam-date coordination

Since in 11th grade you wanna be taking many APs and not have to worry about SAT, I propose the following:

In 11th grade, only take APs for which there is an SATII (so no psychology, econ, art etc), and then take all the SATIIs you wanna take in May and/or June (two-four in total), when you’ve studied like crazy for the AP exams.

Then over the summer you can work your ass off for SAT1, without any distractions, and have three test dates (Oct, Nov, Dec) to take SAT1 (Oct/Nov for EA/ED).

Any opinions?

that’s kinda what i’m doing

i’m taking all my ap’s and sat2’s that have the same topic in may. then i’ll have june also for physics sat2 (which i’m not in ap) and a chance to retake any may sat2’s i’m not satisfied with. then summer is my chance to study for the sat1 and do other stuff.

I took my SAT IIs sophomore year before any APs and did well.

I’m doing the same, except I took the SAT I in March and am probably done with it…I figure I’ll probably be busy enough with other things in the fall of my senior year.

Seems like a very good schedule. Question is if you take the SAT1 in October 1) will it be in time for the ED datelines? 2) If you are not satisfy with the SAT1 score, is there another chance to retake before college applications (definitely none before the ED datlines).

As for the SAT2 tests taking them after the APs has been the advice I have been getting from various sources. How about Math1C or Math2C? I know many people take their Math1C at the end of 10th grade.

1) yes, and 2) yes (the December test date should be soon enough to meet RD deadlines)

i’m doing some of that right now (i.e. taking sat iis of the classes that i’m in). i guess if you could get your sats and acts out of the way in sophomore year, that’d be good too. whatever saves you time i guess.

october/november are both fine for ED/EA, so that gives 2 test-dates, which i think is enough.

foggy: if you take precal or cal in 11th grade, then take 2C, the curve is much better.

generally, unless you stop math completely after 10th grade (or go to statistics), then study over the summer and take 1C in january… otherwise, just take it as late as you can (for your mathematical maturity to develop).

i took 1C in jan of my junior year, after finishing regular math in 10th grade, and got a 730. then i studied some precal over the summer, started taking ap cal in 12th, and got an 800 in 2C in november (my cal teacher went over a lot of important precal stuff at the beginning of cal)
