Our Costco prices almost doubled in the past year.

Did you read the whole thread? There are many people posting buying non-fancy eggs at not great prices.

Honestly, the topic isn’t interesting enough to read 400 posts.

So sorry!

It would seem that since you have posted more than once that you had some interest and were not just tro_ling.

Best part of the Walmart app is that it tracks for purchases for about 3 years. Egg prices are really high, but they’ve always varied a lot. I pulled some random dates

This is for Walmart brand Large White Eggs - 18 pack (because that’s what we always buy)

Today (from app) $6.16
1-22-25 $6.72
9-22-24 $5.57
3-24-24 $3.04
9-24-23 $1.82
7-24-23 $1.58
2-11-23 $4.56
7-10-22 $4.31
3-16-22 $1.00

I have no idea what the previous peak was in 2023. I’m pretty sure it was higher than $4.56. I probably should look at the beginning of this thread.

That’s very interesting that you can track prices

I always use the app to pay, so it keeps track of all purchases. It shows you what you bought per trip. It’s nicer than a receipt because it’ll show you pictures of everything! But you can search for ā€œeggsā€ and it will bring up every purchase where I bought eggs. And it’s super easy to return too, since it’s all there.

I think Walmart has one of the best and easiest to use apps. I always use the app also.

Very easy to reorder the products that you use over and over again. Their pickup service is great

My friends have chickens. They live in a posh neighborhood and have their own little zoo (chickens, bees, parrots, dogs, huge cats) and have honey and eggs they give away. She estimates the eggs cost about $15 per dozen after feed, hay, repairs to the the coop, etc. And sometimes the girls don’t lay enough eggs and they have to buy eggs with money from their day jobs (CPA/Atty/tax specialists).

LOL - What did everybody talk about before the egg shortages? Oh yea, we used to have kids at home, looking at colleges……

OK. Now I know CC is 18 days behind TikTok on memes.

There is no rhyme or reason to the prices. I’m seeing the usually cheap eggs costing more than the organic pasture raised eggs. The dozen I saw for almost 12 dollars was the cheap store brand. The Vital Farms were half the price of the store brand at another store. I don’t normally pay a lot of attention to the price of eggs.

$3.99 for 18 eggs

Question is, do they have any in stock!!

Lots.

12 packs if coca cola cans were $4.99 . Thats cheap!

In stock at my grocery as well. I think we’re in lucky in GA due to the local poultry industry.

There was a recent article in local papers predicting shortages and high prices would not be an issue here… in the short term, at least. Nevertheless I’m keeping a close eye on the market and on alternatives to fresh eggs just in case.
