Egg prices, and impacts you are seeing

Is egg crisis over? I am seeing the shelf full again. After being deprived so long, I couldn’t help grabbing extra two dozens. I didn’t need that many. I tried to put them back but I couldn’t. I liked having them. What’s wrong with me?

I still stock up on TP (and Kleenex and napkins, but especially TP) as if another pandemic will arrive every year.

I can’t help myself.

If we don’t have the 4 bathrooms stocked and the garage, too, then I feel like we are running low.

Making my therapy appt now
.:winking_face_with_tongue::wink:

ETA: and garbage bags, too.
I’ve even sent them to my oldest son in DC who tells me to stop bc he has no room.

ETA2: another thread on what we hoard now bc of missing it due to supply shortages during Covid could be quite entertaining.

I also hadn’t realized this: “Those late-season hurricanes from the end of 2024 disrupted bird migratory patterns, diverting some birds carrying the virus into areas with chicken farms that they normally wouldn’t have visited.”

It’s almost Easter. Just speculating that the egg farms plan ahead to have extra laying hens ready to go for this time of year and that might be why we are seeing more availability at the moment.

Our Costco (in the greater Town of Grace area  ) finally had eggs! Two dozen of white ones $8.69. That’s a whopping price drop of $.20 from the last time I bought them.

I am coveting my dozen and a half eggs for the upcoming Jewish holidays. Both passover and Easter use a lot of eggs.

Husband’s basketball shooting farmer friend is still trading his product with egg producing neighbor, and bringing eggs to the court to hand out. So looks like we’ll manage Passover. Also, local TJ’s have had eggs when I’ve been in the stores. I think it’s probably time to ease back on our favorite Eggland eggs.

I think of my hoarding of TP etc as “COVID-PTSD”

That is one of the few times I have seen the word “covet” used in a context other than a religious prohibition on coveting your neighbor’s anything (presumably including eggs). Maybe religious holidays bring that word to mind?

Organic free range brown eggs from Costco today. Just over 8 dollars for 24.
Shelves half full.

Wow, eggs can’t win these days

I bought 2 packs of 18 today at Costco - the limit was 3 and there were plenty. I only had like 3 eggs left at home but also thought if I got 2 now I’d be set through Easter. Just because we eat a fair amount of eggs and will have some extra breakfast peeps this month.

This weekend:
Aldi’s $4.97/dozen
Costco $5.79 for 18 eggs

Just got back from Costco. 2 dozen eggs @8.69, cage free. Local eggs were more for fewer eggs so I passed and just got these.
