EGL AND Dual Degree?

Hi,

Would it be possible to pursue both the Dual Degree program(I’m interested in combining ME and Econ) and the EGL(Engineering Global Leadership) program? I’m more than ready to overload semesters and get the job done. I think this combination would allow me to throughly satisfy all of my interests.

Mistasuggs

I think you should hold you horses a little bit…

I can almost guarantee you that you’ll be staying longer than 4 years, or going to school during the summer. You say you are ready to overload your semesters now but you haven’t even taken one semester of classes yet

Now I am not sure how many credits you will come in with, but this is still a pretty big undertaking. You are going to want to have some social life.

The point of college is setting yourself up for a job, becoming a good applicant. All of this will look fantastic, but its not at all totally necessary. Fine tune what your interests are, work internships co-ops in those areas, get involved with groups like that on campus, etc etc

If you really want to try this, go ahead, be my guest. But I would really advise talking to someone from the universtiy first.

This. Is. A. Bad. Idea. (If you want to graduate in 8 semesters)

For the reasons ThisIsMichigan pointed out. I stress the idea of a social life, the fact that you don’t know what you’re saying when you say you’ll “overload” semesters (it isn’t as simple as you think, not to mention there is a credit limit unless you’re willing to pay extra), as well as how unnecessary it is. Either one of these looks great on a resume, doing both of them is just an overkill.

Obtaining a dual degree alone, especially for such intensive concentrations, can be difficult to accomplish in 8 semesters. Add the EGL and you’ll either not make it, or you’ll be miserable for four years. Or both.

And entenduintransit has only been here 1 semester. If its that obvious its a bad idea to a freshman that hasn’t even taken an engineering course yet, then its probably a bad idea.

EGL is a 5 year program in itself, and you’ll have access to Ross classes and recruiting through EGL. Not sure why you’d want to add econ on top of that.

Yeah, sorry… I realized it’s a bit redundant. I think I’ll just go for EGL instead. I’m currently in LSA, is it still possible to transfer into Engineering and do EGL?
