El Camino

Is it possible to transfer from El Camino Community College to an Ivy League or at least NYU?

I know someone who transferred from Foothill Community College, and got into Berkeley. The UC system seems to appreciate Community College transcripts. Ask El Camino what 4-year colleges and universities they might have relationships with. I know that Grinnell College has a special relationship with DMACC - a community college in Des Moines, and they are making it easier to transition from the community college environment to the private liberal arts college. Outside of special relationships, you would be applying as a transfer student, and colleges do take transfers.

Why the Ivy League or NYU? Certainly it’s possible, but the Ivies are not the most transfer-friendly schools. You can get an equivalent undergrad education at the UCs.

Are you being realistic?

OP you have not even graduated HS. I think you need to concentrate on doing well in HS before considering attending a CC and trying to transfer.

The OP asks a misguided question. The real question is not whether it is possible but about the likelihood.

But that’s almost beside the point. Questions like this are almost diagnostic of a kid that has fantasies instead of plans. Posts like this pop up periodically. They’re from someone at a community college having not done well in high school, sometimes not done well their first year at the community college. The question is not “help me find a path to get a four-year degree in my choice of major” but rather "if I turn things around through some unspecified magic change in grades can I get into an Ivy college? ". These are posts from kids who prefer to live in a dreamland where they pull the rabbit out of the hat and end of impressing everyone around them with their unsuspected talents and sail into a golden future (because of course everyone who goes to an Ivy has a great life thereafter).

So does the OP fall into this category? I don’t know, but from the link above it turns out the OP is getting a D in high school algebra. And in that thread the OP wasn’t asking how to improve the study skills but rather the impact of that grade on UC admissions.
