Best wishes to all of you as we enter what is arguably the most frightening Election Day since the Civil War. May our country’s democratic system of government survive all this insanity, may our citizens take pride in our nation’s diversity and refuse to single out or mistreat individuals because of their backgrounds or beliefs, and may our 529 accounts for our children’s college educations survive any market fluctuations!
It’s finally here! I’m more excited than I expected to be, considering. I hope we can confine this thread to expressions about our unity rather than getting political!
Not trying to pour cold water in this excitement, but doesn’t electoral college dictate the results in the end?
It’s 3:30 a.m and I’m awake getting ready to head for my long day as a poll worker.
Thanks to so many CCers who are poll workers today. This is my first year NOT working at the election site.
My cousin is having an election party this evening. We will stay just until the state of FL is decided.
I am glad this will mean we dont have to watch those commercials any more.
^^^Or be checking the caller ID several times a day. I have no interest in sharing my opinions nor do I want to have any candidates marketed to me. I just never answered but occasionally I’d receive a call from someone I wanted or needed to talk to.
I’m having an election night party too. I even splurged and bought semi expensive champagne.
So many people have voted early that perhaps those of you who are poll workers will see shorter lines this year.
My cousin posted on FB after he voted this morning in CT (near Hartford) that line was longer then he’s ever seen at that hour.
H and I voted this morning and the lines were long but moved well. It was wonderful to see so many people exercising their right to vote. Saw several friends and neighbors.
No early voting here. Line was incredibly long. While I didn’t like waiting in it, glad so many were there.
Voted early.
Now I have to drive over to Pennsylvania so I can vote again.
When you say that out loud it just sounds wrong, haha
That kind of poll worker ends their day at 3:30 not starts it.
I am excited that my youngest daughter drove home from her college to vote for the first time.
I voted this morning with my twenty-something daughter at the elementary school where she first learned about the suffragettes. It is an amazing feeling to be part of history, seeing the first woman on the ballot for president of the United States. Regardless of your politics, this is exciting. Now I’m off to work at the National Voter Protection Hotline. So happy to be a part of this historic day.
We have early voting, but I love voting on Election day so I never utilize early voting. There was a line but it was very short. There were extra stations set up this year, which has never happened for the 12 years Ive been at this location.
I’m going over as soon as it warms up a tad so I can wear my white jeans & white light knit sweater. Nice to be able to wear all white in November in upstate NY.
