Electronic version of textbooks

How popular are they? Does it cost more to get an electronic version of a textbook?

In my experience, it has cost less. For example, the publisher sells my accounting book new for $186, but you can get an online-only edition (that comes with access to the online homework website) that lasts for some limited amount of time for ~$60.

I don’t know of anyone who has gone online-only. It might just be because it’s not as easy to read on small-ish laptop screens. I think my eyes might get strained if I had to read hundreds of pages online, too.

I do online only for all classes,

Its cheaper and you can search within the textbook + i have free printing at school so I just print out whatever I need

Where do you find electronic copies of textbooks?

I know that a certain publisher sells electronic access to economics textbooks, but that doesn’t work for most of my classes.
