Electronics that Might Come in Handy At Cornell/College

Hey, current students, give us a list of the electronics that you’ve found useful in college, such as Palm Pilots, portable heating systems, etc etc

[ul]
[]A fan for the hot and muggy early Augusts and late springs.
[]Lamps (they don’t give you that much lighting and I like my room bright).
[]External hard drive, a must if you like movies and television shows (I HIGHLY recommend this).
[]Cellphone if you don’t ready have one.
[]iPod/MP3 Player if you don’t already have one.
[]Nerf guns (cause they’re just cool)
[/ul]

a small and PORTABLE laptop with a port replicator, so that you can connect it to a separate monitor and keyboard and mouse and stuff. big laptops are a huge mistake.

Kyt: “hot and muggy early Augusts”?

it actually gets THAT hot in Ithaca?

btw, thanks for the responses! anyone else?

Well, I personally think it is hot. High eighties/low nineties (I think) + humidity.

If you live on the top floor of a dorm, it will get very hot. there isn’t much air conditioning in Ithaca. Most apartments, houses, dorms, etc don’t have air conditioning because it’s usually cold. But for the first month in the fall and the last month before the end of spring, it gets very hot.

i’m from houston texas and yes…ithaca is nasty in august and starting to get nasty now! bring that fan…

NERF GUNS ARE ILLEGAL…EVEN WATER GUNS!

VERIZON cell phone (no not sprint, cingular, and defn not TMOBILE)

laptop (check out tigerdirect.com or newegg.com for deals)

definitely laptops. desktops just don’t cut it here. It didn’t make a difference until junior year, when I had problem sets that you had to do on your own computer with other people at office hours. This would be impossible with a desktop.
