Elite admissions

Those who got into top/ivy schools this year, can you talk about your academic stats, how many colleges you applied and how many rejected vs how many accepted?

Someone at my school grabbed a Yale admission.

Stats:
~3.4GPA (optimistically)
~2200 SAT I
Squat ECs except for instrument.

And you ask: W T F?

It all lies in the last name, which, and I won’t specify, definitely suggests lots of alumni giving in the future.

Momat - are you at a big-name east coast boarding school? Also, is this person not only the child of a wealthy family but also an alumni family?

4.0 GPA, ranked 1/300ish
National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar
Strong essays, president of academic team, varsity tennis, science olympiad team, robotics stuff… basically a bunch of ECs, good recs, all my ECs were regional though, nothing national.
White girl from Ohio, majoring in biomedical engineering.
MIT was my first choice but I did not apply early.

Rejected - Harvard, Stanford
Accepted - MIT, Brown, Olin, U Chicago, Carnegie Mellon, Case Western Reserve, USC, OSU (merit scholarships from all but MIT and Brown)
