I posted stats up here before, but not I think I want to change my major which would mean a different school. I want to apply to Elliot, but would I have reduced chances there as opposed to Columbia College? Here are my stats:

Background: Cuban/Italian

Academics/SATS:
Unweighted GPA: 3.8, Weighted GPA: 4.0
All honors classes along with AP US 2
Next year: Gov., Spanish V, AP Eng, AP Euro, AP Calc.
SAT: Math-680, Verbal-670, Writing-700

EC’s:
Guitarist in jazz band as well as indie band which released a full-length cd and has played countless benefit/charity events

I think you have a very, very good chance at either. If you want Elliott… I would say go for Elliott. You will want to be in Elliot from the very beginning so you know what courses you will have to take to graduate etc. etc. My stats were similar to yours, except I had more extra-curriculars, and I went to college early and I was accepted to Elliott with the Presidental Scholarship.

but you are cuban too. forgot about that. that will help a lot too i think. apply to elliott, write a stellar essay, and i think you will be a close to sure admit and have a good chance at a scholarship.

(but nothing is every 100% w/ college admissions… had to add that)

Hispanic americans wont enjoy URM status for long their economically advancing rapidly (just behind whites right now), and Cuban-Americans in particular do fine, thats not to say you don’t have a boost there, just not as a much as a native american or african-american especially at GWU

If you are debating between Elliott and Columbian, go for Elliott. As a current student, there are more requirements to fulfill to internally transfer into Elliott than any other schools (GPA minimum, course requirements, etc.).

Can’t you pick up a second major in Elliot if your first major is in Columbia just by filling out a form and getting it signed? No application or anything?

You got it right. You can pick up a second major between Elliott and Columbian. It would be a form that you sign and an academic department advisor signs. Forms should be available at both advising centers.
