Elon Early Action

D accepted 30 ACT 3.96 GPA no word on merit

Accepted w 6k. 3.6 gpa and 33 act.

Please update if anyone has received financial aid info on the portal/if the financial aid portal says that the FAFSA was submitted.

I had the same question about number of acceptances, but no they didn’t. Their website says there were 10500 applications last year, so already exceeded that this year. I suspect past data will have limited similarity to this year
The reputation and recognition is growing quickly. Having said that, only around 20% of accepted students enrolled last year, so they accept a lot more than expected enrollment. I don’t think they’ll need to do that as much now.

Deferred

1490 SAT
4.64 GAP
Valedictorian
IB Diploma
Community theatre, student conductor for school choir, student choreographer for Children’s theatre, Governors school, NHS, among many others

I was extremely surprised because I was hoping to get a presidential scholarship. Emailed a guidance counselor about what might have gone wrong, so we will see!

Accepted!

3.55 UW/4.3 W
1260 SAT

No merit which stinks but I also submitted the FAFSA in October but the portal says they haven’t received it.

@onemoremom12 Good point re the increased numbers in just ED and EA being greater than last year’s entire pool of applicants. I noticed that the students with merit scholarships have higher stats too.

Let’s just hope they have their act together when forecasting acceptances as it would be horrible to end up with overenrollment like that experienced at Va Tech this fall.

@Roxnyny Sorry about the deferral. Did you visit the school? Wondering if they are relying more on demonstrated interest, though I also know it is most competitive for NY/NJ/CT kids.

@evangl2002

Sorry about that deferral. You have great stats, so must have other choices.

Is Elon your first choice? With your stats, they may have thought you would choose to go elsewhere. Did you visit? By any chance do you live in VA?

@1stTimeThruMom Thank you! Elon is my top choice, I live in NC, and I did tour it. I’m applying to their BFA musical theatre program, so I didn’t think academics would be an issue. Any advice as to what I should do?

Update about FAFSA: I called the Fianncial Aid counselor listed on the portal and while they’re closed for the holidays, the answering message said FAFSAs will be downloaded in early January.

@Oceancity52 Congrats! Will you accept or are you looking at other options?

@evangl2002 Did you audition? There are separate threads about the process at Elon for theatre. Perhaps someone in one of those threads has advice? All I know is that the theatre program is extremely competitive. Good luck to you.

How were you deferred with a 1490 and 4.64? Did you have mostly AP/Honors classes? Thats crazy with almost a 1500 SAT

After acceptance, where do you look to find the tuition information? Can’t seem to find anything on the portal. Does a packet get mailed?

I’m pretty sure the Musical Theater program is very hard to get into (2.5% acceptance rate). Likely more at play than high SAT scores.

S accepted with Presidential $6k scholarship.

3.9
ACT 32
New Jersey
7 APs

Elon is in our top 3. I like It better than Wake where we got rejected. Other option is Colgate or Duke. Waiting to see

Anyone have info on the 4-1-4 semester?

we just took a tour and the winter semester is 3 weeks taking one class. Usually just a fun class or study abroad I think they go back Jan 6th and have another break at the end of the 3 weeks.

@evangl2002 , I know in general, MT BFA programs are incredibly competitive and often only like 20 or so are accepted per class
and that often means 10 males, 10 females. Most schools are looking for diverse classes, so you may be competing for like 1-2 spots that are even possible for you to get. As MT your admission is a totally separate animal than other majors! You may want to post in an MT thread, and/or also it may be possible that they defer ALL MT majors in order to make time to get through auditions?

As for what to do, if you haven’t already, definitely widen your net when it comes to MT BFAs, many also apply to BA programs and non-audition programs as “safeties”
there is kind of no such thing as a safety in MT. Elon may have been considered a sure thing for you academically, but for MT majors there is no sure thing and Elon is a much sought after program.
