Elon Fellows

Daughter was invited to apply for the Honors Fellowship, figuring out logistics as we are in VA. 4.2GPA, 35 ACT. We hear it’s a beautiful campus, looking forward to seeing it in person.

Anyone nominated for the Honors Fellowship know if the person they listed for their recommendation got the email? The site mentions it will be sent out first week in February and is due back March 8th but my son’s person hasn’t received anything. Emailed admissions counselor about it but haven’t heard back yet.

Back from our visit and interview. Interviewed by a math teacher, D is going to be a biology major, so that was odd. Was told interviews are 20-25 min max which held true for us. D had a bad cold so was not at her best, sigh. Beautiful campus.

Has anyone heard back yet for any of the fellows programs?

We have not heard yet. My understanding is April 1st they will notify.

Hmmm their website says the 20th. https://www.elon.edu/e/admissions/undergraduate/applications/deadlines.html

@BillW13 - that web page says March 20th for Regular Decision Admissions. Question was about Fellows notifications. Date for that is blank on that web page. I recall hearing April 1st at Fellows weekend, though I could be mistaken.

@SoCalPops Thank you for your response! I appreciate it a lot.

No problem, stumbled across it this weekend while “relaxing”.

@BillW13 @kdew01 I spoke to Greg Zaiser, the vice president of admissions, and he said that the decisions are expected to be released April 1 as @SoCalPops said.

My daughter got an email today that she was accepted by both of the fellows programs for which she interviewed. She has until Monday to notify them which one she will select.

My guess is they will adjust numbers once they hear back from students accepted to more than one program then notify everyone.

Thank you @TexasMom2000 - which two did she apply to? I think the only way someone can apply to two is when one of them is the Honors Fellows.

She applied to Elon College and Honors Fellows.

Greg specifically said at Fellows weekend that they wouldn’t release decisions on different days to avoid having people hearing all different things in different days. Sounds like they did exactly what he said they wouldn’t do. My daughter interviewed for both honors and Elon college. So I’m assuming she wasn’t accepted to both since she didn’t hear anything today. Does anyone know about this?

@berk2023 My daughter was only notified because she had to choose between the two programs. I’m assuming that by turning down one, they would take the next person off that list. You daughter could be in at one or the other. Fingers crossed for her!

My daughter got an email this afternoon notifying her that there was an update to her application. She was accepted into the Honors Fellows Program!!

Mine got into Elon college fellows!

Son was named an alternate for Honors fellows. Was a bit of a shock after being named a Monroe Scholar at William & Mary, accepted at Wake Forest, and Emory. He must not be what they are looking for.

Those are wonderful, highly competitive schools! It is so hard trying to make sense of decisions across universities when we never know all the factors they are trying to balance – geography, majors, etc. I just hope our kids realize that all the factors beyond their control are in no way a reflection of their achievements and abilities.

I still haven’t heard anything about my decision. Is that a bad sign for me?
