My daughter got the same thing for PA. I know, it said to be excited that she was selected out of the pool of 200 applicants, but I have no idea how many they choose to interview. She’s probably not going, though, since she’s exhausted by the process at this point and already has a few options.
There’s nothing else there but my decision letter
hmm, so weird! Reach out to the admissions folks?
Mine hasn’t decided yet. To go, my daughter would miss her last regular season basketball game and the last practice before districts (all this for her only hs basketball season due to torn ACLs). I told her Im fine if she doesn’t want to go.
It’s a tough time of year, most definitely. Unfortunately my daughter has already missed so much school due to illness that she can’t afford to take any more time off, and we’d need to in order to travel there. This year has really kicked her butt! I did notice you could request a virtual interview but I think she’s over interviewing at this point.
Final decisions are issued by April 1st
We missed that you can do a virtual interview - did it say in the note or did you learn on a webinar (which neither she nor I attended). My daughter has barely missed school, but doesn’t want to miss a b-ball game. We were planning to visit in April.
If you click on the button to respond, it mentions there are limited spaces. My daughter would’ve probably made it a point to go if she had no other option, but at this point she’d rather be in a bigger cohort, so she’ll probably just leave the space open for someone else. But I do hear such great things about the school and everyone in the Accelerated PT/PA programs seems to love it!
Out of curiosity, is she goign to go somewhere else with an accelerated or direct admit program?
Yes, she’s gotten into 4 accelerated programs so we’re just making the final decision now!
That’s great! This is the only accelerated program my daughter applied to. Everywhere else she applied was just b/c she liked the school and they had an exercise science/kinesiology major.
I’m not sure if it’s the same with PT as it is with PA, but as hard as it is to get into these accelerated PA programs, it’s even harder to get into a PA program after undergrad than it is right out of high school. So since she knew she wanted to be a PA, she was pretty set on an accelerated program. She’s just had so many interviews and essays and hoops to jump through that she wants to put a lid on it! This was far from a relaxing senior year!
Been following a while but this is my first post. Have any of your noticed changes to your application portal? Last week, the application for Scholars was available on the portal but when my D looked today, the application is no longer there. Has anyone else experiences this? Can others still see the Scholars application or were you ever able to see it? Thank you.
I think the application deadline has passed, which is why the application has been removed. Looks like Scholars applications were due January 10. Fellows were due January 15.
Students who applied to honors and fellows have already received notification of if they did or did not get an interview. The application deadlines have passed.
The application for students to apply for scholars opened February 1 and is due March 1.
Did she get invited to interview for honors or fellows? If so, Scholars may not be open to her?
D24 was selected as a finalist for fellows and invited to the Mar 1-2 weekend but unfortunately can’t go. Does anyone know whether she can interview for it virtually? Or does she basically forfeit her spot by not attending the weekend?
Same with us. They said there would be a few virtual spots but I’m assuming they are all taken by now.
Just go to the form and click the button that says, No, you wish to considered for a virtual interview. They might be taken, but you could get lucky!
Does anyone have any experience with the Scholars program and how it differs from the Fellows program? Fellows seemed really great, but D24 could not apply because there was no way she could make that weekend. Plus she was in the middle of exams when the application was due, so she decided not to apply. I’m just wondering if kids who get into Scholars feel like, “darn I wish I was in Fellows” or is it not like that?
IDK, it’s $6k and a totally different type of program. Looks like low commitment for the money tbh.
