Elon University Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

This is our hope, too. I am dismayed at the number of parents on other sites posting about how inconvenienced they feel to travel for the honors interview when it is clearly stated to be the process when you apply. This is why kids who would love to go there are getting passed over. Kids are being told to apply all over with no intention to go to the school, or without really looking at what it entails, and taking up spots they won’t fill. (Specifically talking about hte kids who won’t travel for the interviews.) Or, the classmates of mine who applied just because it was free and were awarded merit, but it isn’t a school they would ever go to. Such a bummer!

South Carolina.

We will do the same.

I couldn’t find any information about an interview being required on campus for Honors via the website so I was surprised.

I am pretty sure that when the actual app is filled out or acknowledged that it was stated in that. It has definitely been in our tours and webinars about the program. My daughter knew it would be an invite to interview on campus over a weekend, but she doesn’t remember where she learned that.

I hadn’t recalled seeing information about the Honors interview weekend anywhere on the website or otherwise “obvious” in the application process, but took note of it when it was mentioned on one of the webinars (post-application submission). Although they hadn’t formalized the date of the interview weekend by that point, they said when it would “most likely” be based on past years.

They also said that while they hoped that invited students would be able to make it that weekend, they understood that sometimes other large commitments would conflict and alternate arrangements could be made.

Yes, large commitments, but not just that they don’t want to travel. And said they have a small number of spots for virtual interviews.

Did anyone else get an “invite” e-mail yesterday to apply to fellows?
We’ve got a conflict - the state competition for D24’s sport is that weekend, and I just can’t imagine not letting her compete in her senior year.
What if she were to miss her championships, go to the weekend and not get into the program?
Really struggling to weigh this.
I’m assuming that the fellows program is only open to incoming freshmen? So not possible to apply after freshman year?

yes, i kinda assumed it was to everyone

I would definitely have your kiddo email them, explain the situation, and then ask for a zoom interview!

At least some fellows programs are open to current students. My kid was invited to join business fellows after freshman year

I love this response and is exactly our feeling here. Son had a decent score of 33 not crazy high, thought maybe it would eke out some merit but didn’t go our way. This seems to be a school on the rise and good for Elon if they are flooded with more qualified candidates. We will wait for all college decisions to be made and see how the finances line up. Congrats to all those who were accepted with merit. And PS, i just created this account and was frankly baffled that people are spending time determining when accounts were created, really? My older son is at West Point so I’ve never needed to come to this website before, but wanted to get some information on Elon specifically. I found it very informative, thank you!

That might be ideal. She’s not even sure of her major, so it would be nice to start college without the pressure. Even though the fellows programs seem really really amazing!

My kid found it amazing even without the fellows program. She had great experiences and solid internships, and actually declined the offer, as she felt well settled in her routine

Great to hear!!

I think that’s rare. The webinar last week said that it’s a freshman start only because it’s a cohort with specific tasks each year.

33 is pretty darn high and WELL above their 75th percentile range. We actually know kids who didn’t submit scores and have a lower gpa than my kid who got presidential, so who knows how it’s decided? When we inquired, she was told it was on gpa and test score, but that doesn’t seem to be true.

It is, but not everyone stays in the fellows program and some change their major entirely. While the winter trips are nice, my kid thought she got as much out of the program she followed.

In case it is helpful, Elon announced this morning that Family Weekend will be September 27-29. Hotels book up quickly, but many start to open up again closer to that weekend.
