D got letter from Elon today saying that she’s on wait list. However, on Acceptd it says that it cannot offer admission. I don’t want to give her false hope but I thought academic and artistic admissions at Elon were consolidated. I note that the wait list letter is signed by the director of admissions for the university as a whole, which suggests to me that the wait list status is for admission generally as opposed to the program. Anyone have better knowledge??
That sounds like a waitlist for general school admission to me…
2 years ago when D applied, they were separate admissions. It was typical of Elon to WL academically those MT applicants who met their academic criteria.
They are aware most MTs will choose not to attend if they do not get in the MT program.
If your student is interested in attending Elon pursuing another major, I would let them know that as they may look at your academic wait list differently.
For our D, the Acceptd notice was the artistic decision, and the waitlist notice was for academic admission.
The Elon letter is her academic decision. The Acceptd notification is her Artistic decision.
My D applied last year in the fall and had her academic decision and merit scholarship grant (by letter) 3 months before she auditioned for MT. Her artistic acceptance came by phone, then Accept’d.
