I applied EDII to NYU and I received an email from Beau Benson (admission office) asking for more informations about one of my ECs. He asked me to write an extra short essay about my dedication and achievements.
How should I interpret this? good? bad?

Just write it with honesty and details. Only you know if you lied about application, after all.
If you were honest in the app, you should have nothing to be afraid of.
I think it’s a good sign, it means they’re interested in your application! Write an honest essay and you should be fine. Good luck!
Is this an unusual EC? Something that one of your recommenders might have talked about in their rec?
Yes it’s kinda unusual (i was in the national sailing team)… I am not sure if one of the recommenders talked about it tho.
