For AP U.S. History. I need to read a scholarly biography (no autobio, no memoirs, must have work cited in the back, etc.) of an influential AMERICAN, living or dead. School is only two weeks away… and I still haven’t decided! Anyway, what biography would you recommend? Here are some conditions

no more than 400 pages

the (truly influential) person ties well with post-1850 U.S. History

Wow. My hat’s off to you, Marite. I can’t remember seeing a scholarly biography of anyone influential that came in under 400 pages (or 500, for that matter).

500 should be fine (given it is not too boring). my primary concern is that the person is core to U.S. history (preferably more modern). this can be political, economical, social, cultural, diplomatical, you name it.

Try this for Trammell Crow. His real estate empire changed the skylines of Dallas, Atlanta, San Francisco.

Search B&N for biographies that interest you. You’d better get going though. You’re going to end up reading something about Oprah if you procrastinate much longer!
