Emergency Counseling at Emory Required

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3506491/Emory-president-Students-scared-Trump-2016-chalk-signs.html

this school president is an embarrassment and the school needs to tell the students who are “traumatized” to grow up, instead they are going to search for the “offenders”…and do what send them to a re-education camp. this silliness has to stop!

I wonder what the approved punishment for the evil chalk wielding criminals is. Maybe they’ll force him to write “Big Brother is watching you” 100 times on the blackboard.

This article belongs in The Onion. I can hardly believe this is legit…

blankmind—the tribunal will read the verdict and sentencing like this…
big brother of emory finds you guilty of writing in chalk support of a non university approved candidate and for this ungodly act big brother sentences you to 6 months in a re-education camp followed by expulsion. we at emory value diverse opinions and freedom to express those opinions as long a they fit the politically correct pre approved opinions of the masters of emory who tell you what to think ! may big brother have mercy on your soul!
now banish these misfits!

You’d think Emory would be embarrassed. A university that doesn’t understand the First Amendment to the US Constitution isn’t a forum for higher learning.

tating
they should not have a law school for sure!

This is starting to reach cult status…

Scary stuff.

I saw a TV interview with an Emory student last night. He said he was frustrated the the president gave into to the students with concerns. Apparently these chalk writings are very common at the school and are either enjoyed or ignored depending upon your personal interest in the subject matter. Anything from football games and meetings to good luck at finals messages are regularly “chalked” across campus.

I agree…scary stuff

“It is un-American to support hatred against others”

Somebody hasn’t been paying attention in history class.

It’s un-American to try and suppress the free speech of other Americans.

What is keeping the students from just chalking over these things, or washing them off with a super-soaker?

I agree with someone else, this reminds me of something in “the Onion”…whatever Trump stands for, some idiot writing “Trump 16” in chalk isn’t exactly like putting the image of a noose, a swazsticka, a racial slur, or an outright threat on the wall. Those who claim they felt threatened I think need to tone it down a bit, it comes off as sounding like someone looking for something to get upset about

@tating:
Um, I think the president of Emory is well aware of the first amendment freedom of speech, and that it covers only the government. As far as I know, Emory is a private university, and as such there is no such thing as freedom of speech, the press, etc, the university has the right to suppress speech and so forth, nothing the courts could do about it.On the other hand, I think the president of the school acted like a horse’s rump, I think that he gave in to stupidity. Whoever did it should be charged with vandalism, even if it was done in chalk. I don’t know if writing in chalk all over the place is what a university is supposed to be about, and whoever did this method of doing it was wrong, but targeting the speech itself because some professional victims claimed to feel threatened is idiotic, Trump 16 is a political statement, not a hate statement, and at a university the statement itself should not be dealt with, if the method should be.

How about blasting these SJWs with super-soakers… now that would be fun!

Um, you do understand that it is the government that cannot restrict speech. That’s is what the first amendment means. Last I checked, Emory University is not the U.S. government. Can you go to your place of employment and tell your boss you hate him-- without any consequence to you because, hey free speech? But you can tell the POTUS that you hate him without consequence.

Would you feel safe with one of these kids running the US and/or keeping us safe? I certainly wouldn’t…

“Dear Mr Kim Jong-Un, we respectfully ask that you grant us a ‘safe space’ when initiating negotiations over future disarmament. Thank you.”.

I think the president of emory is living in an alice in wonderland setting.

I’m not in favor of writing anything on anything even if free speech because somebody has to clean it up. And unfortunately it’s always the person who didn’t write it.
I wouldn’t punish anybody for writing in chalk–I’d just make them clean it up.

Smh!

It’s raining in Atlanta. No clean up will be required.

the cleanup can be done by the rain.(just like has happened at emory many times before)
chalk is used at emory all the time, how many other people have they tried to track down? they did not spray paint it just chalk. cleaning up the chalk is just a cover issue. the hypocrisy and creepiness of the president of the schools behavior is the issue.
