EMERGENCY-Help a newbie! Qualified for aid?

Okay so basically I’m applying ED to JHU, but don’t want to get accepted early. I really do love the school, but I want to look at other colleges as well. My parents pushed me to apply early.

So I don’t know if I would get in early. Their acceptance is 59% for ED. But I’m feeling pretty confident about my app. But the only way I can withdraw from ED is if the financial aid offer they give isn’t good enough.

My parents are divorced and I live with my mom (has financial/legal custody of me) who doesn’t work, but has some savings. My dad, who makes a decent amount of $, has financial/legal custody over my sister who is currently in college. My mom is single and has a another son, my half-brother, who attends a private elementary school paid for by his dad. My dad is married and has a another daugther. However, my sister, half-brother, and I all live with my mom.

How is this gonna work? Can I qualify for aid?
Can I apply for it even if I don’t qualify?-- then withdraw from ED because they didn’t give me $.

Please say yes?

thanks for reading!

If you regret applying ED I believe you can contact them now and ask them to move your application to the regular decision round.

JHU requires custodial parent financial information. So your father’s financial information will be taken into account when determining your eligibility for aid.

If you are accepted ED and do not consider the aid to be sufficient, you can turn them down, Of course that would take JHU out of the picture completely for you.

No way of telling from the information you’ve given.

Anyone can apply for FA, and yes you can withdraw if they don’t offer you enough.

However, this doesn’t seem to address your problem of wanting to be able compare both acceptances and FA packages to other schools. For that, you need to see if you can change to RD now.
