D got notified on 3-16 and her notification included her scholarship ($124K total if she meets the requirements each year). I believe most of the scholarship comes from getting into the Honors Program. Now she has some hard decisions to make re which school she accepts. Still waiting to hear on an honors scholarship for her top school.
Hello!
I am from Southern California and luckily had the chance to tour Emerson in early February. I really loved the school and would describe it as a small, tight-knit environment in a big city–something that I’ve never really seen in a school. While on the tour, they really stressed the unique opportunities that they offer as a city school. For example, in the journalism program, students can take on internships at the State House (which is right on the other side of Boston Commons). They also often send students to the White House in D.C. and red carpet shows in L.A. It also seemed like they make it really easy to take courses in other areas no matter what your major is.
I don’t think that I was truly able to get a feel for the social environment of the school (as they were on February break at the time), but I hope that I was able to help you out just a little bit!
I haven’t made a decision on what school I’ll be attending yet, but I really loved my tour of Emerson and am definitely considering it! Good luck with making your decision!
Does anyone know how many students Emerson waitlists? Or what the chances of getting off of the waitlist are?
@cbtheatre According to the most recent data (from 2017) 1611 students were offered a place on the waitlist. 798 accepted their place, with 51 accepted from the list. So that’s about a 6% acceptance rate for the waitlist. It likely also depends on your major.
@izrk02 Thank you for the information! Not great odds I’m assuming, as I was waitlisted for the theatre program, but I appreciate your help.
Hello all, My daughter is excited of the possibility of Emerson but she is wondering if anyone here can share any insight into the social scene at the school? She is majoring in communications or creative enterprise and has interests in music and theater. She is not a partier but would like to have the opportunity to go to the occasional party. Does anyone know how often students venture off campus and intermingle with other college kids in Boston?
@themomager I have friends who go (I also spent a summer at Emerson) so I know a bit. The party scene is mostly off campus, at Harvard, BU, or NEU. It’s really easy to be isolated on campus, but it’s also easy to find a party on the weekends.
very random, but i got taken off the waitlist for film production
@filmlvr congrats! so did I! I’m still waiting for the financial aid package (been a little over a week now) but I got around $25,000 in merit which was surprising.
