@mellowgenius congrats! How did you see the email? Did it come to your personal email account, or to your Ohio State email account? Will they notify us either way, even if we didn’t get finalist?
@baseball3518 ty! I just saw it pop up in my email box through my personal email account (one i signed up through common app). And idk if they will notify those who did not get it or not
Has anyone else heard if they are/aren’t a finalist? I haven’t gotten any emails so I was wondering if I didn’t get it, or if they just haven’t notified everybody yet. I am certain that I applied because I found my confirmation email from October.
Thanks!
@baseball3518 My son hasn’t heard either way about eminence. He got accepted mid Dec, then got notified of honors last week in an email, then got a letter in the mail saying he got Maximus. No word about Eminence or Morrill. I am wondering since he got Maximus already ($3,000 a year), then he may not be considered for Eminence anymore. Anyone get notified of both Maximus and Eminence?
We are in state also.
@baseball3518 @katiecat75 I emailed the program director yesterday and was told that they have started notifying finalists but are not finished…they also said all applicants will be notified by the end of January either way. Good luck!
@katiecat75 Yes, your son should still be considered for Eminence even though he has already been awarded a merit scholarship. My DS received Eminence last year after having been awarded the Maximus and national Buckeye earlier. Good Luck to all!
@1happypappy Thanks for that info! I’ll keep my fingers crossed! But we are happy for acceptance, honors and Maximus as well!
@browniesundae Thanks for that info! Congrats to your son!
I never got a confirmation email that I applied as far as I can tell, which is a bit concerning, but I did take a screenshot of the final page of the application where it says “Your Eminence Application has been successfully submitted,” so hopefully they received it.
@1happypappy Thanks for checking! Do you guys know why they don’t just release all at once? When will we know?
@baseball35 I do not know why they do this on a rolling basis but I am happy to know we will get an email either way…would hate to wonder if my daughter’s info just fell through the cracks. We will know for sure within two weeks.
Sorry to keep spamming this, but has anyone else heard anything yet?
My daughter received an email that she was a finalist - went to her personal email (one on her common app). She received it around the 15th - I don’t know the exact date. Good luck to everyone!
Congrats @fabulous5 ! My OOS D also has been honored as a finalist. See you at the weekend in March.
This may be the wrong thread, but can anyone tell us where to take her Thursday night to feel/see the University “vibe”? Most schools have a street where the students go. I’m talking Pizza/Sports bar type. My girl is also into Country Western Dancing if there’s such a place in Columbus. Thanks in advance. And good luck to all in waiting!
Congrats to you too @Frogs12345 ! We’re looking forward to the weekend in March! We are fro Ohio but I’m not an expert on Columbus. High Street that runs adjacent to campus has lots of shops/restaurants. There is also a neighborhood maybe 5-10min fro campus called Short North that has a lot of shops and restaurants too. But I can’t recommend any specific places - but I know there are a lot to choose from:)
Received an email this morning saying daughter is not a finalist. Good luck to all who made the cut!
My daughter also received an email notifying her that she wasn’t selected. It’s somewhat surprising to hear (or maybe not) already, because I thought that to be considered, you had to be accepted into the Honors program. She applied EA, was accepted in the Dec 18 wave, but she still doesn’t have a decision regarding Honors…so how was she considered for Eminence prior to being accepted in Honors? Or maybe she wasn’t selected as a finalist for Eminence BECAUSE she hasn’t been admitted to Honors…yet. (ACT: 3.4, 4.24/3.89, tons of extra-curricular activities and leadership in multiple areas). If so, how is that fair? This whole process is frustrating and gives off a strong perception of unfairness. Regardless, there isn’t much we can do about. Good luck to those that receive positive notifications.
Sorry to hear that @1happypappy
Has anyone had their interview yet?
