Emma willard waitlist question

My daughter apllied to EW for 10th grade. Was placed on “selective waitlist due to space and financial aid.” Is that a longer-w8nded way of saying she was just plain waitlisted or are there different types of waitlists? Boarding schools are not something we are familiar with. Aside from clicking yes to indicate we are interested in being on the waitlist, should we be doing anything else to increase our daughter’s chance of being moved off the waitlist if a spot becomes available? Thanks.

If you will take a space if offered, let them know that. When schools go to the WL, it is to complete the class, not to extend offers that will be declined.

If there are any changes to your FA needs, update them. For example, some families have a grandparent in the wings who is willing to contribute (but might have preferred not to!) Of course, no need to do that if everything is the same. But needing less FA can be helpful if it’s possible. Most schools have fixed budgets for this, so it’s a hard line for them to cross.

To me that reads that if a spot opens up that makes the financial aid available she would be in consideration. In other words, she’s great, but the money has already been offered to other people.
