I was happy to,see Regina King win. She’s always been the girlfriend. (Ever since my ex played gulf with her husband, I’ve followed her career).
Yes, the best parts were the commercials for the new shows. There’s a lot to look forward to!
I wish The Americans would have won more but I was happy to see Matthew Rhys win.
Caught it after the first hour- for lack of something better to watch. Informative for learning about all sorts of shows I never would watch, partly because we don’t subscribe to the networks involved. I note a trend of recent years- dystopian/violent… Oh, well.
I watched a few minutes of it while switching channels to find something to watch. It put me right to sleep.
I thought that the show was poor overall. As much as I enjoy Michael Che and Colin Jost on Weekend Update, their humor did not work as hosts or their personalities were not as entertaining as when Tina and Amy hosted or Andy Samberg. The opening number wasn’t funny and neither were the Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen bits, not needed at all. Certainly a big SNL presence throughout the show.
I don’t watch much network series so unfamiliar but I am totally into the Crown so happy to see Claire Foy win. Also a big fan of Mandy Patinkin on Homeland so would have liked to have seen him recognized. Have never seen Game of Thrones and have zero interest so cannot really comment on that. Not familiar with the show Regina King won for but she is awesome overall.
Haven’t yet seen Mrs Maisel as I don’t have Amazon Prime but I understand that it is outstanding show.May have to get or trial Amazon Prime to see it as I did that one day with my daughter as she wanted me to watch Transparent with her a few years ago.
Best part was the proposal!!!
Wow, y’all are a tough room. I thought Reparations Emmy was lol funny, especially Urkel.
Agree that Fred and Maya didn’t land at all and that the opening was weak. But I thought the co-hosts were fine, and the speeches quick and good.
I was happy that my daughter encouraged me to watch the Marvelous Mrs Maisel (and let me “borrow” her Amazon Prime).
I did enjoy seeing the stars from the old shows on the Reparations Emmy bit. I barely recognized Kadeem Hardison.
I didn’t watch after the lame opening…who proposed??
Glen Weiss (producer or director?) to Jan Svendsen

I watched a little of it and didn’t think it was too horrible. But the ratings were the lowest ever. I stopped watching for one big reason and I wonder how many other people found themselves in the same situation: I do not watch HBO, I do not watch Amazon, I do not subscribe to Netflix or Hulu, so I was unfamiliar with 90% of the shows that were nominated for awards! Saturday Night Live was nominated for a couple - I watch that, and I am familiar with The Big Bang Theory (but never watch it), and everything else was completely unfamiliar! So I didn’t watch.
@patsmom I am with you. I just finished watching Season 6 of The Americans the night before the Emmys and it was amazing. After it won best writing and best actor for Matthew Rhys, I was so excited thinking it might sweep the rest of the awards it was up for. So disappointed that Keri Russell lost. And while I am a huge Game of Thrones fan, I think the Americans was way more deserving for best drama. Would have to agree with everyone that it was the worst award show I’ve ever seen.
