Spoilers to be sure on live tv…
I thought the opening was weak (besides seeing Sterling K Brown and Kristin Bell, two favs of mine).
Great to see Henry Winkler win - just because he’s cool.

Weak, I agree. Most of the jokes are falling flat. Some unexpected winners, though! That keeps it interesting.
I’m excited for several of the winners from two shows I love. I feel bad for the SNL cast - it’s not really working…
I’m pleased to see Mrs. Maisel winning - but also don’t love when one show takes all.
I DON’T like how they are doing the nominations before they bring out the people presenting the awards. By the time they announce the award I already forgot who was nominated!
Also, THOSE LARGE PHOTOS BEHIND THE WINNERS - awkward!!

Agree that the show is very weak - terrible jokes, not at all funny. About as unclassy as it can get. Too bad with such great winners.
Are Fred and Maya supposed to be funny? 8->

I don’t recall seeing an awards show this bad! It is almost painful to watch. They have got to get different writers and hosts next year. I like Colin Jost and Michael Che and love SNL but this is just bad. But that is only my opinion. I’ll be curious to see what the reviews are like.
^agree this show is not working at all. The hosts are dull, and the segment with Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen just awkward -
Pacing is wrong.
The award presenters are off in their timing, too. Whenever one of the presenters says something (supposed to be) funny that is followed by a pause, the pause goes on way too long. It’s pretty strange for a whole awards ceremony to be so off.
While I recorded the show, I finish watching tomorrow, but forwarding through many parts. I believe this is the worst awards show I have seen. I would have missed the proposal if I hadn’t read the post above!!
The only two positives of this show were: 1) Henry Winkler winning an award and 2) the show did not run long.
Did not like the format and the humor fell flat.
Probably the worst awards show I’ve seen – I even let my H flip back and forth to the football game.
The writing was really poor. Did they rehearse at all? As someone mentioned, so many long pauses… waiting for laughs that weren’t there? I love Fred and Maya but I felt like there was no script- like Fred and Maya were improvising and it wasn’t working.
But I enjoy the dresses. I also learn about new shows to watch.
