got accepted to both emory university and oxford at emory! :)

accepted stats: 2310 SAT one sitting, 3.97 unweighted gpa

not sure if i’m going to go yet, depends on money… when does the financial aid stuff get released?? it keeps giving me an error

accepted. 35 ACT, 4.0 uw, 1/267, ec’s were my strength. Emory costs too much, so I will be attending the U (miami)

accepppteedddd! waitlist at Vanderbilt, will most likely be enrolling at Emory and waiting to see what happens at Vandy.

for the people who got in or got wait listed, but don’t want to go to Emory,
Please decline your offer.
the sooner you guys do it… the sooner we, wait listed people, get out answers.
THANK YOU!

congrats on the peeps that made it!

in 2009 Emory accepted 144 students from the waitlist. I think the # was much lower in 2010 though.

does anyone know this year’s acceptence rate?

Common Data Set said they accepted 147 out of 800 in 2010.

Really? 147/800 is nice, but I looked up the most recent CDS here:

http://www.emory.edu/PROVOST/IPR/documents/factbookprofile/CDS2010_2011%20EU_WebCopy21711.pdf

According to this, 2515 students were offered a position for Fall 2010. 1091 accepted a place, and 62 were admitted. That’s about a 5-6% chance.

EDIT: Also, the 147/800 was for Fall 2008, I believe.

I really hope that Emory pulls me off the list because they are my #1 choice. If you know that Emory isn’t your top choice please let them know because many waitlistees are desperate for admission.

If I am rejected from Emory but accepted into there Oxford school, should I go there?

Does anyone know of any pros or cons I should consider before choosing oxford?

I am turning down Duke and University of Chicago for EMORY!!

By the way, I spent many years at the Choate school before moving to Texas. Anyone from Choate going to Emory ?

@ aeross Congratulations on your decision! I don’t know enough about Duke pesonally, but Chicago wasn’t a good fit. I’m sure Chicago students will disagree, but when we visited it seemed like the students were misfits or Bill Gates like… LOL. Not a bad thing, but not a good thing if you want a more diverse study body in terms of personalities.

OMGmom is absolutely right. Kudos to you for your well insightful “non” emotional perspective. The URM’s will have the priviledge of knowing that for everyone of them that are admitted, there will be 13 Whites. A little event to help them feel comfortable in an environment where URM will really be manifested is good thinking on Emory’s part. Enjoy your overall priviledge being in the majority and stop sulking. The affluent have advantages that a low socio-economic URM can never compete with. My D is fortunate to have received every resource available to her in order that she get the best prep, attend a top Boarding School that is tricked out with the latest Technology. She would never complain about such trivia regarding efforts to diversify a top University knowing all the advantages her parents wealth have afforded her. Thank God!

so im turning down emory for wesleyan
they both gave me essentially the exact same aid package and would also offer me the same things academically (pre-med, bio, and a 3/2 engineering program) and wesleyan is SO much closer to home than emory (i live in NY)

i hope one of you wait list people takes my spot!

how do we withdraw our application to Emory? I emailed admiss@emory.edu a while back but I keep getting Emory emails…so I’m not sure if they received it…

Accepted in Emory!!! from waiting list!!!
