D accepted to both Emory and Oxford! We are ecstatic here!!! Now how to decide where to go?? Anyone have any good ideas? We fully visited Emory and loved the feel. Over Christmas break we did a drive through Oxford and it did seem nice-but since no one was on campus did not get a good feel. Any thoughts?

Wants to be a writer - has written several short plays, I think her essays were amazing, but I love everything she writes.
Visited Emory last spring and really felt a connection. She especially loved that they didn’t have a football team.
If you loved the feel of the Emory campus, then you should choose Emory rather than going with an unknown. As an Emory alumni and parent, I may have a bias here, but I still believe that the Emory campus is small enough to give it a small college feel, but with so much going on of a university. You also wouldn’t have to go into a transition mode in your junior year, just as you hit your groove. Oxford does have smaller classes and you would probably get to know your professors better, but those are the main differences. Good luck with your decision.
@BlueBii I am in the same boat! I haven’t had the chance to visit, however, I read some really helpful articles on Emory’s website from students comparing Oxford and Emory. So I would check out their website!

I think my essays were pretty good and my letters of rec were strong
Pretty strong EC’s: 2 year team captain and peer coach for speech and debate and have had a lot of individual success in speech and debate as well, leadership position on the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board as well as the first youth member on two other adult boards in my city where I hold leadership positions. I have a lot of volunteer hours in the health field and was apart of a research internship at a vaccine and gene therapy institute, etc.
I honestly didn’t expect to get in because of my stats but I am really excited and glad that they take a holistic approach to applications. Congrats to everyone who got in!
For future applicants – we found Emory’s financial aid offer fairly generous. D20 received a sizeable grant as well as a “Dean’s loan replacement” which I’m assuming is another small grant in lieu of student loans. It was a “no loan” package, which is very different from financial aid packages we’ve seen from other schools.
Depends. The offer we’ve got is significantly lower than “full demonstrated need”, so, if my son accepts it, we are supposed to pay more than twice the EFC. I have asked for clarifications.
Hello parents on this thread! Did you also receive an email regarding FA, or just your Kiddo? The had stated that yesterday they would inform us, but nothing yet. Please advise. Thanks!
