Does anyone know anything about this college?

What do you think of it?
What kind of reputation does it have?
What is its ‘feel’?

psychgirl, I have heard positive in the past, but don’t really know too much about the school. You should try posting this on the Parents Forum. They are very helpful and it wouldn’t suprise me if you got some very good responses.

One of S’s good friends attends E&H. It is a small college in the very small town of Emory VA which is in the southwestern part of the state. There are no big cities nearby. I seem to recall E&H was in one of those “Colleges that Change Lives” books but could be wrong. I think the students there get a great deal of personal attention from the faculty. S’s friend was not a top student in high school but is doing OK at E&H.

I was quite impressed with a law school classmate who did his undergraduate work at Emory & Henry. But the place would have been too remote for me. And for city/suburban folks, SW Virginia can provide a severe case of ‘culture shock.’

Thanks for the replies!

LakeWashington, why would SW Virginia be a culture shock? Is it because it’s rural, or something else?

Clearly it’s rural region, but it’s also very remote. The nearest major metropolitan cultural center is probably Chattanooga, maybe Asheville. Small mountain towns and villages. Nothing inherently bad about that, but it’s surely different for someone who has spent most of their previous 18 years in a metropolitan area. On the other hand, Blacksburg VA is a real fun college town.

Roanoke VA is not too far away.
