Am I correct in being told that Emory Sophmores can apply to the emory med school as sophmores?

Are there any stats on the number that apply and get accepted? What type of grades / things do you need to get in? Is it something they talk about but the bar is so high that hardly anyone gets in that way?

Emory’s med school does NOT have an early application program that would allow sophomores to apply, so Im not sure where you heard that from. (Mount Sinai’s Humanities and Medicine program is the nearly the only one in the country that would allow people to be admitted sophomore year). The earliest one could apply to med school is AFTER their sophomore year so they would get into med school right after junior year, but that’s only for a few people who are able to graduate early OR have exceptional ECs and MCAT scores (med schools don’t technically require a Bachelor’s degree as a criteria for admission, but obviously over 95% of premeds will have one upon matriculating).

If you wanna know stats of people who get into Emory’s MED SCHOOL, go to: [Emory University School of Medicine](http://med.emory.edu/admissions/howtoapplyrequirements.cfm#MACTGPA)

IF you wanna know stats about Emory UNDERGRADS who apply/get into any med school in the country, go to: http://www.career.emory.edu/parents/pdf/Applicants_Emory_2009_Matrix.pdf and

Could you clarify? I heard something similar. Not that you would be admitted after sophmore year, but we had heard that Emory lets undergrads apply to the medical school when you are a sophmore or at the end of sophmore year for admission after your senior year or after you graduate? Is that accurate? It seemed to be a way to be relaxed in your junior and senior years (I would assume you’d be accepted contingent on keeping good grades) and know where you could go to medical school after you graduate. And that you wouldn’t need to take MCAT? That the acceptance would be based only on your performance at Emory over the 2 years you were already there.

Am I mistaken in any or all of that?

They used to do that, but not anymore. It used to be 2 students from College of Arts and Sciences and 2 students from Oxford College. They were guaranteed spots in the Emory School of Medicine provided that they continued to meet the requirements.

used to do that? would you know how long ago that was in place? We were told within the last year that it was still something they offered. 2 and 2? A very low number anyway. I just like current and accurate information.

^No, I do not. I heard that at the orientation for Freshman. Someone raised his hand and asked the same question.
