haha I went to my commonapp and print previewed for the why emory essay.
and I had my scholars essay on xanga…

edit:
yeah I’m really lucky and grateful that I got such great opportunities in hs, because I know
I def. want to do research in college. my aspiration for the next for years is to work at the CDC

Um, so like, ten minutes until midnight? Considering that they haven’t sent out an email, however, I’m assuming that we’re waiting until tomorrow morning…sigh.

jmw - what school do you go to? (aka where do you live?) It sounds so scandalous!

agrees because I can’t imagine having to wait for postal mail, especially since I’m in California, and thus it takes 3 days as opposed to 2

2 minutes until midnight! I really don’t think they’re updating, though…

tako:I live right next to tiny Oxford, home of Emory, oddly enough. The area used to not be so bad until maybe 5-7 yrs ago when the county starting exploding in population (cheap housing, people trying to escape Atlanta.) The problem is that a bunch of gang members ended up moving from Decatur and Lithonia because their parents were trying to keep them away from bad influences.

Now murders, rapes, robberies, etc. are alarmingly common considering how quiet the area used to be. There’s a bit of a positive feedback with wealthier people moving out. And as such, the schools have started sucking. 85%+ of people failed the AP exams, the average ACT is a 17 for my school, SAT a 850 or so.

It’s bearable, but definitely not the optimal place to try to learn. I’ve seriously considered dropping out rather than deal with the crap.
