Emory Scholars Date

yeah I seriously won’t be able to sleep well…
and yes, jmw that doesn’t sound pleasant at all
seems like you managed to keep your brain
and life, which is good, neh?

That was thoroughly… disappointing. I clicked, and then BAM! - a whole lot of nothing. Then I did the obsessive refresh thing a few times.

I’m going to read Fahrenheit 451 and see if the eye strain makes me tired enough to conk out for a few hours…

Haha, I actually have that little National Vocabulary Championship written test tomorrow, so I think I’ll stay up all night to study the roots of words.

While I do that, I’ll refresh OPUS every minute or so.

If anybody wants to PM me their phone-numbers, I can give you a call whenever I find out that decisions are up, hahaha.

gah … everyone got my hopes up haha

I doubt staying up will help any. When EDI was released it was EXACTLY at 12:00. I’m guessing they had set up a script to release the information when the date changed, and not that somebody at Emory was sitting in their office controlling it at midnight.

I’d guess we aren’t going to see anything until Emory staff come to work again. Which I suppose would be around 8am or so (if they work on Saturdays.)

dang it. didnt come out

but the thing is, even if I’m not trying to stay up, I rpobably won’ be able to fall asleep for another hour or two anyway…

nothing. but ther is always 9 a.m

It is after midnight-- what should we be seeing on the “learner services” page??

I love how all the lurkers come out of the woodwork to lament no updates.

Again, I’m sure there isn’t somebody in the Office of Admissions right now waiting for the right moment to click. Everybody go down some Nyquil and it’ll be all good.

lol, agree ^

Well, I suppose I’m off to sleep now. Good luck to the all-nighters!

Nine o clock is NINE HOURS AWAY! Far too long for somebody with no patience like me. Lalala. I’ll just post here sporadically.

superSPAM!
and sporadic reading…
about book burning.
how ironic?

I have a feeling they aren’t going to be as punctual as they are with admissions decisions. Since Emory has never officially released a date for this information, they aren’t going to make any special effort to have it up immediately. It could really be 6pm tomorrow.

For all they’ve told us, we have until the end of January to expect semifinalist results.

They said Saturday morning, though! That means MORNING. I trust Emory. Ish. If it was Saturday evening, they would have just said Saturday, surely?

I think I’m just trying to make myself feel better :(

As much of a rational person I’d like to think I am, CC has made my life 10x more stressful. Had I never bothered to try to get inside info on the release date, I would have casually opened my email one day, and to my surprise there would have been a little email from Emory greeting me.

Instead, I’m helplessly hitting F5 for the past half hour.

Where did everybody go?

F5. Random post. F5. Spam. F5. F5. Repeat.

I just tried logging into opus again though i doubted it would be up. When i clicked on admissions, i saw something red pop up and flash out of the corner of my eye. I got really nervous for a second, but then i realized it just said “processing” and my internet was just being slow…
tomorrow i guess

for your enjoyment, I’d like to post the sonnet I had to turn in for AP lit today!

Avum amorum*

Accompanied by the sweet whistling reeds,

You sing ai****eru to songs of cranes,

Too prepossessed by perfect pitch and trees

To see this conversation’s plea and aim.

Surrounded by blue clouds, you whisper te

Amó lightly to twitters of red kites,

Whose present beauty you esteem too great

Above to hear your darling’s wrongs or rights.

Reclined upon the face of stone, you swear

I love you, as the eagle soars above

The trees around us, you forget my hair

And smile, in favor of this higher love.

But if the birds and songs and trees and clouds

Hold more, then I will fade into the crowd.

*Latin for “birds of love,” but this particular word for bird (avis –is, f.) in the genitive (or possessive form) can also mean “omens.” Hence, the title can be interpreted as either “birds of love” or “omens of love.” Additionally, in dependence of order read, the title may be interpreted as “love of birds.”
