<p>Does anyone know what the typical academic profile is for Emory Scholars? Do you think I have a chance for Emory Scholars or should I not bother?</p>

<p>Asian (Bangladeshi) male who goes to a private school in Indiana. school sends everyone to college, some to top colleges. avg SAT=1260/1600
will apply for financial aid</p>

<p>Recommendations: should get a good one from my math teacher (10,11) and a great one from my history teacher (10,11)</p>

<p>Probably major in pre-med. What should I improve or is it too late? Thanks for the help.</p>

<p>I don’t think that a 1460/1600 is Scholar material. More likely 1500+. I’ll let others answer the question better though. </p>

<p>3.7 is also pretty average. 83% I think have a 3.5 or above. Scholar material would be 3.85+.</p>

<p>I don’t suppose your speech team is actually a debate team, is it? If so, there is a separate scholarship for debate at Emory and from what I understand, they like to recruit in this area. </p>

<p>Do a search under Emory Scholars; I posted some averages for SAT and GPA concerning ESP awhile back, but I can’t remember what those figures were. I think your SAT is fine. The GPA may be slighly under what they normally accept. Regardless, make sure that your counselor recommends you for Emory Scholars (they can recommend 4 from your school) and make sure all the paper work is in to them (Emory) by the end of Oct. - given your research, they could have additional interest in your application, regardless of the GPA.</p>

<p>From what I remember the magic SAT score (old 1600 scale) was around 1500 for Emory Scholars.</p>

<p>Admitted students have little to do with Emory Scholars. I stand by my 1500 - research past Emory Scholars stats and I believe you will find my numbers to be correct. This was certainly the case 2 years ago when my student turned down Emory Scholars for another school. I immagine that the qualifying stats have not gone down since then.</p>
