Emory Transfer 2017 Fall

anyone hear anything? @anonymoussss123 @Dontskipthemoose @potato133

Someone take one for the team and call. <3

call about what @sagacious97 we find out tuesday

@anonymousss123 if all of the hype about over-accepting is true. Emory has a track record for having a slightly higher transfer acceptance rate. Is that in jeopardy this year due to extraneous circumstances? Basically verifying all that @VANDEMORY1342 states.

@anonymoussss123 We find out on Tuesday? Who discovered that and where does it say it? The website said endo f April I thought, that is May! Man that sucks.

@moosingmodestly An email was sent to all applicants. If you didn’t receive it, I’d call them and ensure your application was processed.

@moosingmodestly They literally sent everyone an email apologizing for releasing on May 2 rather than late April.

I did not get one, I will have to call them thanks @anonymoussss123

no idea. @sagacious97 i don’t think it will affect it too much, maybe a little. if they over accepting freshman, why would that impact sophomores or juniors. we aren’t in the same class @sagacious97

are you waiting for emory before committing to vanderbilt? i 10000 rather emory @usualhopeful

@anonymoussss123 freshman matriculation affects housing and financial aid for transfer students

@anonymoussss123 Waiting for Rice (lol near-certain rejection), Emory’s my second choice. I only like it a bit more than Vandy and I think if I get into Emory I probably won’t get a financial aid package that’s good enough for me to justify it over Vandy (since Vandy would be no debt except for the $3,500 from my current college).

@VANDEMORY1342 do you know by how much they overadmitted? And how severely do u think it’s gonna impact our transfer rates?

@Dontskipthemoose yeah i know i just don’t know how much that affects acceptances

@anonymoussss123
What do you mean? If they don’t have enough housing space or money to give to students, they can’t accept as many people.

@Dontskipthemoose they may just be unable to accomodate as many on-campus housing requests

@potato133 well this is only what I have heard.Freshman will fill the 1&2 floors of the sophomore dorm. While displaced sophomores will move to the junior and Senior residential areas. I think it would be unethical to force seniors to get apartments in surrounding areas just to accept more transfers. But they just might do exactly that, maybe through some voucher system. I think the yield rate increased a bit.

did you apply to emory as a transfer? @VANDEMORY1342

@anonymousss123 yes I was accepted before. I had to leave due to financial issues and mental health issues. (My stepfather went missing found deceased) I reapplied for next semester got in. Applied for transfer to some other places got in there as well but will go back to Emory it’s close to home.

a note to all those who applied: im a current freshman and transferring out, before you commit call admissions and ask about housing. currently there is a waitlist of 79 freshmen who cannot be given housing yet even though all sophs are required to live on campus, so I’m not sure how they could let in more sophs. also if you’re looking to have any sort of normal college social life, learn about the status of Emory greek life as there are no sports/spirit here.
