The common application says that the long personal essay about why I want to transfer should have a minimum of 250 words. But the specific emory application says that the long essay should be 250-300 words.

When I looked at other threads and posts, most people say they have essays around 400, 500, and even 600 words.

I’m using the emory specific application, so i’m afraid to write an essay which won’t be somewhere near 300 words, but it seems that people who use the common app will write essays around 500 words, thus allowing themselves to write more, providing a broader picture to the admissions committee about who they are.

Is it ok to have a 400 word essay even if the emory specific app says 250-300 words???

THANKS!!
