I appreciate you taking the time to read my info and give me your opinion of my chances to the following schools:

Emory
UC-B
Tufts
GA Tech
CMU
BU
Brandeis
Rice
Northwestern
UCLA

(really any top 25ish school)

Thanks again for your time,

-Jeff

UC-B - Rejected
Tufts - Rejected
GA Tech - Accepted/Waitlisted
CMU- Accepted/Waitlisted
BU-Accepted
Rice-Rejected
Northwestern - Rejected
UCLA - Rejected

Berkeley/UCLA are reaches; your GPA hurts you most there, though your ECs are excellent.

I am not sure I am posting in the right place. I am a parent of an 11th grader. Her SAT scores are 2010 including 700 math. QPA will be 4.1 to 4.4 depending on the outcome of two AP courses this year.

What are her odds of getting into Emory or U of Michigan Business school? I saw “EMORY” discussed here so I thought I’d post.

Should +'s be considered in UW GPA? Because if they are, my UW would be substantially higher. I have more B+'s than i know what to do with…

+s and -s don’t have an effect on GPA. Some systems do take them into account, but many highschools/teachers don’t bother with +/-, so colleges tend to ignore them.

oh i see. Regardless, due to summer courses and such, i should have around a 3.75 when i apply…

Unless it’s a core course (English, math, history, science, language), then it won’t have an effect on your GPA.

Emory - Slight Reach / Reach
UC-B - Reach
Tufts - Reach
GA Tech - Match? (I dunno)
CMU - Slight Reach
BU - Match
Brandeis - Match
Rice - Reach
Northwestern - Reach
UCLA - Reach

With a 3.75 + 2100 your chances will defintely improve though (I graded assuming you have a 3.6 + 2040)

Emory- Reach
UC-B- Reach
Tufts-Reach
GA Tech - High Match
CMU - Slight reach
BU - Match
Brandeis - No idea
Rice - Reach
Northwestern - Reach
UCLA - Reach
