I have been accepted to two 2017 summer programs which I am excited about. I will have all of August free. I am wondering if it would be possible to gain employment for the month of August only. Has anyone done this? Can you think of a job that would hire me for one month only?
Many colleges start early, so any business that hires college kids for the summer might hire you to pick up slack when they go back. Focus on seasonal businesses such as nurseries, farmstands, resort restaurants and hotels, pools, etc. Talk to friends - someone may not want to work all summer (vacation) and may be able to recommend you as the second half.
Thanks. That is a great idea to look for jobs the college kids will be leaving in mid-August. My school doesn’t start until after Labor Day. Glad I asked.
Also look for things involving summer camps since young kids will not be back at school and as mentioned above other college kids will have headed back to school. Look at local rec centers that need to staff summer programs. Camps can be in any field from STEM to sports to music so maybe you can find something that is a fit for you.
