EMT 14 or Intro to Engineering for summer 2015

I need help in deciding whether to take the EMT 14 class at city college of San Francisco or intro to engineering at college of San Mateo. Here’s a little info about me.

I’m an incoming freshman at UC davis. I’m planing to go into chemical engineering but I’m willing to explore other fields of engineering. I also want to go to med school later on so having this emt class will give me first aid/CPR cards and I get to be exposed to medical stuff early on. Also emt class will help me volunteer at hospital in terms of getting a spot for like internships(ex: uc davis hospital) This class won’t give me emt certification but I guess I can get the emt certification elsewhere like at Red Cross? The engineering class involves mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering info. I live in sf so I had to take cal train and switch to another bus to get to college of San Mateo. This kind of sucks but not if I get exposure to these fields of engineering. I’m registered for EMT 14(free)and I just got off the waitlist for intro to engineering(need to reply by tomorrow morning) Both of these classes are uc transferable for units but aren’t equivalent to anything.

Emergency care for one and two-rescuer adult, child, and infant CPR with mask ventilation and AED; life-threatening, medical, environmental, and traumatic emergencies such as bleeding, burns, musculoskeletal injuries; poisoning and emergency childbirth. Qualified participants are awarded American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Providers/AED and CCSF Advanced First Aid cards.
UC/CSU
Satisfies requirements for public safety personnel as stated in Title 22, Division 9, California Code of Regulations. Students enrolled in this course will be assessed a $5 lab/material fee for CPR and First Aid cards. Formerly HLTH 14

Are you a Engineering major?

First off, trying to get into med school as an engineering major 9 out of 10 times isn’t going to happen, simply because of the low GPA that plagues engineering majors. If you are the top 10% of all engineering graduates by all means go ahead and try, but remember that Chem.E is usually considered the hardest discipline. With Med school, the majors you “should” be taking (Biology,Chemistry,etc) leave you on a limb when it comes to jobs if medical school doesn’t work out. So you really need to chose one or the other or try to get in with an engineering degree.
