End of 1st wave. Start of 2nd wave

Me too. :frowning: I expected to get something as I was in the first wave, but at least we’re accepted. Is there absolutely no hope for Trustee/Presidential for those who have not heard thus far?

Stay optimistic. My daughter didn’t receive any of the online status updates others got prior to receiving her acceptance. That was nerve-wracking. Now, when we try to log into USConnect to see what scholarship she might be eligible for the system says they don’t have a record of her in their database (despite the fact that she has already received her acceptance!). Bottom line: I am not convinced what is on the web site and what shows up in the mail always match. Keep your fingers crossed for a scholarship letter in the next few days. :)

Everyone should read the following letter carefully:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/858946-those-waiting-update-letter-received-admission-today.html</a>
What it basically says is approx. 1260 students [15% of the expected 8400 who will be accepted] have already been notified of their acceptance to USC and of that group, 1000 are in the pool of applicants being considered for Trustee or Presidential scholarships. That doesn’t mean that all 1000 have already received their invitation to interview for those scholarships. some are probably still in the mail.

Are those remaining 260 students Dean’s candidates? Pretty please? Hehehe.

I don’t know if this is the right place for what I have to say, but I’ll go with it.

I took a look at the Explore SC agenda and I also took note of some posters saying that each school will conduct interviews with some applicants. Others also pointed out that approximately a hundred (give or take a few ten) of these merit scholarships (Trustee, Presidential) are awarded. I’m wondering, is it one per major (i.e. one for Bio, one of Mech E, etc.)?

Again, I don’t know extensively what goes into the decision making of selecting prospective scholarship candidates. This is just pure observation.

update: got the dean’s scholarship… ughh. i was really really hoping for at least presidential. i’m hoping i make national merit finalist instead. oh well, i guess i’ll have to see how financial aid works out, and if i get accepted to my other options.

take a look at the profile of new freshman students for last year.
http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/0910/FreshmanProfile2009.pdf</a>
There are a LOT more than 100 T/P scholarships awarded, given that many award winners end up NOT going to USC. I believe in the past the ratio is approx 200 Trustee scholarships are offered, and approx 400 Presidents scholarships.

@Handlebars - how did you find out? Did you get a letter?

yeah, got a letter postmarked january 29th, but received it today february 1st
:[ i’m so sad…

^handlebars, shouldn’t you be happy that you got accepted? lol

ehh honestly, i was expecting more. i wanted to go to the special usc explore sessions too!! oh well, guess i’ll just have to hope for national merit to get presidential

^i think your stats are exceptional, handlebars, and i doubt usc would overlook that. i can only assume you have a substantial financial aid package coming your way?

so does anyone actually know about when the second wave of acceptances will be sent out?

My daughter got a letter today just updating her application process. We already knew she wouldn’t qualify for the Trustee anf Presidential scholarships. It says although she might be disappointed, to please remember she is still being considered for other scholarships. Basically it said she wouldn’t be hearing anything more until late March-early April if she’s admitted. And of course to check back online. Also to send midyear grades in now, which she already did.

So, it’s still the waiting game.

hahah thanks Neon Green, that really does make me feel better. i recently found out that my EFC is pretty low, so hopefully that will help my financial aid!!

through this entire process, i’ve learned not to expect too much really. i’ll be better prepared when i get my other college results back…

Some of us would be happy to get the acceptance letter from USC.

sorry!! :(

uhh you can have my acceptance if i end up going to a different school!!
sound good? :]

Handlebars sorry that the Dean’s Scholarship is not what you wanted but maybe with grants etc. it will be enough. Did you ever get an email letting you know you would be getting your Dean’s scholarship letter in the mail? My sister would love a Dean’s scholarship. At least it helps a little. What was the date of your acceptance letter. (not the Dean’s scholarship letter but the original acceptance letter…could show if there are a couple of “waves”)

the date on my original acceptance letter was january 26th. i believe this was the first wave. it was postmarked january 27, i received it on january 28th (i live about 45 minutes south of USC, in orange county)

dean’s scholarship letter was dated january 29th, postmarked january 29th, received february 1st

i never got an email from USC notifying me about anything. in fact, USC hasn’t contacted me through email in months…

good luck!

yo, i’m actually a bit nervous. according to the online RSVP thing, i was selected for the presidential scholarship. it says

however, i have yet to receive a letter from USC. my classmates got their scholarship/interview letters today. (my school had 5 students who were accepted to usc early) whats going on?? should i be worried? lol… i’m getting paranoid.
