end of grade 10 (like after sophmore but before junior)...time to sched next year!

<p>okay…well here’s my first post on this forum and this is a bloody gold mine (motherload!) of info…and here’s a bit about me before i’ll go ranting on my horrible and degrading life (like any typical ADHD asian student with a retardedly large amount of english vocab in his mind…oh look…a bunny!) </p>

<p>-Asian canadian (been canadian for 11 years
-15 (turning 16 in august)
-Grade 10 (canada edu system)
-Vancouver (goes to U-hill Sec for you vancouverites)
-Good at: history (finished previous AP World History and SAT II world history with breeze), math (tested for some reason), english (in comparision to other asian kids at school), and some EC (skiing, piano [RCM piano 10], Reach for the Top [won provincials])
-it’s always good for your family to be rich isn’t it?</p>

<p>well, anyhow, since my school is small [500 kids], we only have 4 APs [all 3 sciences and a senior calculas] and only physics and calculas are the ones i’m interested in. So i decided [with a little pressure from parents as always to challenge yourself] to knock myself out and do AP World History and AP comparitive politics. And like i said, my school doesn’t have these courses, so i checked with my [and 320 other kids’] counsellor and she said a lot of useless stuff about how much work she’ll have to do and how much problems I would have. Moving on, i would love to get into Georgetown’s busisness or foreign services, and noticing that doing all 3 sciences AP would NOT help my application, i tried to load on humanities…so here’s my courses for my junior year:</p>

<li><p>AP COMPARTIVE POLITICS [if the school’s AP policy on walk in changes]</p></li>

<p>No comment! Your schedule looks fairly rigorous by British Columbia standards. Ask yourself - are you taking the hardest possible course schedule your school has to offer? If yes, then you are well on your way.</p>

<p>Keep in mind other things - like your extracurricular involvement and whatnot. You have 2 years to go, so I think you definitely have a lot of potential. Good luck getting into Georgetown!</p>

<p>wow thats a lot of history! gtown likes motivated kids consider helping out with a local election or get a lot of leadership positions for clubs and stuff. good luck</p>

<p>now sarah, history is good…for me (especially when you know who was fuher after Hitler died). I’m a bit tad late this year but so far, for the last 3 years, i am the provinical winner Reach for the top team’s co manager and at times, their manager. Next year, i’m looking to join some leadership groups, i’m also involved in volunteering and the healthy school group. </p>

<p>i know EC is great, and with my social standing, a local election won’t be in the books.</p>

<p>Even if you can’t take the AP history courses for credit, you could still self-study for the AP test. I did that this year for AP Micro and Macro. You will have to talk to your counselor, though, to make sure that the AP tests are ordered and a proctor is set up for you. They might make you pay for that.</p>
