Anyone have experience with Endicott College. Looks like a nice little school but can’t find much information on it. What are the general academic and social vibes there?
Endicott is a great find. The location is fantastic if you like ocean views easy train into Boston for exploring. There is a strong focus on internships for all students. I’ve had the benefit of hiring some of those interns over the years as interns and employees–all very prepared and ready to do real work. Beverly is a pretty basic suburban town. It’s a very campus-based school.
It serves a nice niche of a challenging admit for students who didn’t click in until later in high school and a great safety choice for those who did quite well in high school.
Students are primarily from MA–tends to be a strong local choice. With a small percentage from outside New England. Not a suitcase school but one where the occasional weekend at home is easy for most to achieve. That might be a watchout if traveling a long way.
A student from our high school in Washington state is a freshman there this year. Seems like a nice school in a very cute town near the water.
I have a friend who works there and she’s told me great things. Great campus setting by the ocean and the train into Boston is very convenient. She really loves it there and it sounds like the school is planning some exciting things in the future too.
We went to an open house and were impressed with their internship program. Nice dorm options, gorgeous spot near the ocean and new building for nursing and some other science majors. It seems to be a very sporty crew of students and a lot of kids from MA/New England. I do think some kids go home on weekends and the town, although on the ocean, is kind of sleepy for a college town. Kids can likely have a car on campus for most years and that helps to get to internships etc. It’s more of a pre-professional school than general liberal arts so if your student knows what they want to study, it may be a good fit.
Thanks everyone for the info. We’re in the northeast too but still a 4plus hour drive away so looking for schools where most of the students stay on campus on weekends- think that helps build community. Anyone know if most of their professors are full-time and as opposed to adjunct faculty?
This resource has a wealth of information: https://collegetables.info/
For most colleges it includes tenure-track info, but it doesn’t for Endicott. It does show how the number of non-tenure-track faculty has been increasing, though: Endicott College
I don’t have first hand knowledge, but my EA attended Endicott and I recall that she liked it. I can ask. She is now probably 30 and has probably worked for me for 6 years.
ShawWife was asked to speak there and said the students were active and inquisitive.
That’s all I know.
I have onr there currently, and one who recently graduated. Most kids are very involved and most stay on the weekends. Easy to get to Boston as well. Internship program gave them real experience and my oldest came out with a full resume that was commented on by many interviewers. No complaints about living on the beach!
