Hi! i’m currently finding that i excel most at math/science based classes, and thus engineering seems to be the natural way to go for me… but i’m also rather shy when it comes to speaking infront of large audiences… working in teams with people is no problem. But ya… i pretty much get insanely nervous with presentations. anyways, would this be a big problem for me at cal? or am i worrying about nothing lol.

you sound like the typical cal engineering student actually
you should be fine.

You should work on speaking. It’s the best way to get ahead in life!

kurreji23, I hope you’re not thinking that you’re gonna be presenting things to the large lecture classes?

This rarely, if ever occurs. If you’re in a class that requires a presentation, it’ll usually be within a smaller group of peers such as a lab group or a smaller, upper division class. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

You will have to learn to present to audiences, regardless of whether or not you go to Cal. Whether you learn to face it in college or afterwards in the “real-world,” you’re gonna have to face it and overcome it sooner or later. One day you’ll think - “Why the heck was I ever nervous to give a presentation to a group of people?”

lol i hope i one day think that… i was never expecting a large lecture class lol… but i’ve heard that people have to in the E10 class which is about 70 people o.O

E10 was a joke class. Don’t even worry about it, the professors gave the not-so-eloquent speakers plenty of credit.
