Engineering CC

Hey guys. Due to finances and grades, community college may be my only option at this point. I plan on pursuing mechanical engineering, but I have a few questions first.

I want to transfer to Northwestern or Cornell. There are other much less selective schools I would be fine with as well, but those two are my top choices. My state (montana) does not have CC’s with very high math courses (calc II, multi variable calc are the highest). Is it reasonable to attend a CC out of state? If so, should I attend a school close to my prospective transfers, or at least one out of state with more course offerings?

Does going to a CC deter my chances of summer engineering internships?

What else does CC have to offer that would better my chances of transferring to a selective school such as NU or Cornell, aside from GPA?

Thanks for any help

Ivy leagues do things a lot different. Your chances are actually a lot harder applying as a transfer student. They take a holistic approach in determining eligibility. They look at high schools grades, high school GPA, SAT scores and ECs – including your current community college transcript. If you weren’t a competitive applicant In high school, your chances are pretty much zero. Almost all CCs offer those math courses as well.

CC won’t limit you as far as I know. Your best bet is to call and ask about your chances.
