Engineering: Does it grow boring?

As a high schooler engineering is very interesting to me-the tinkering, the inventing, the problem-solving. I plan on being an engineer when I grow up, but I am concerned it will grow old and I will want something other than just sitting and engineering all day. What are my chances of becoming a manager? Any graduates growing bored?

Engineers are in many different functions and positions in the corporate world. Many branches into other non-technical fields like operation, procurement, finance, and others. Also many corporate managers and officers are engineers. It is really up to you to pursue opportunities that are available.

Its very common that engineers are managed by someone with an engineering background. Engineers either with years of work experience or some experience and an MBA are the ones moved into management roles.

Getting the management role isn’t just about being good at engineering. Establish yourself as a good engineer and someone with leadership/management skills.
