I’m a senior high school female looking for “safety” college to apply to, my goal would be to get full ride to one of these schools. I’m searching for small colleges that will give me a good engineering experience so that i can get into a very good graduate school. I have SAT of 1410 (w/an 800 in math) and a 32 on the ACT, with a 3.88 GPA.

I’m not looking for the rankings on for undergrad engineering programs, asking this question one here i am looking for personal advice.

Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN is an example. Although looking at any rankings you would say that is not a very good engineering school, because i have relations that work there I know that the dean of engineering works with the top students providing them with a them with with engineering experiences students at Harvard or Yale wouldn’t get. I would also get a full ride at this school, but would rather not go there because of the relations that work there. Does anyone know of schools that are even remotely similar to this?

OP, I think Lipscomb offers a full tuition scholarship, not a full ride. Full ride normally includes room and board. If you are looking for full tuition that is a different question. Which is it?

Oh okay, thanks for the clarfication. I’m looking for full scholarship. I know many schools don’t offer tham, so even a very good merit scholarship would be nice. Thanks!

I would cross off Rose Hulman. I have known several students apply with stats at least as good as you list and none have received even close to full tuition in merit aid.

Olin College and Rose Hulman both are very good schools but they don’t seem like what I’m looking for. Case Western, RPI, WPI all seem good and I am looking into them more now so thank you. But I don’t necessarily want a mostly engineering school. More just a school that will allow me to get into a good graduate school in an engineering field.

Unfortunately no, I am not a National Merit [Semi-]Finalist.

You should definitely consider Bucknell. Ranked very high in engineering but is considered an LAC (also top ranked). It also has a very good business school. It has a great reputation for getting students in to top graduate schools.

It’s financial aid can be very generous or not. I’ve heard both.
