Hi all, I’m not sure if this is the right section to post this but if it isn’t, feel free to take the necessary actions.

My family is Taiwanese Canadian. I studied Sciences at UBC for two years before I started thinking of changing my major. For some personal reasons, I will now have to complete my undergrad in China for 4 years. The Chinese university is giving me the option of changing majors. After the undergrad, I would ultimately want to pursue a master’s in the UK, probably in the field of biomedical engineering or nanotechnology.

So my questions are:
- What field of engineering would give a solid foundation in those fields and have high employment with just an undergrad? I realize all engineering courses have similar foundations but my perception is that material engineering would be better in terms of my master’s than something like civil engineering for example.
- How are Chinese universities known for their engineering courses? I heard from a friend the Chinese are good at building railroads.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
